Sarah Dunning hasn’t been on the U of G campus for very long but in a short amount of time, she has already made an impact for the Gryphon golf team. The veteran player from Waterloo, who is also a former OUA champion while at the University of Toronto, produced an excellent season in her first fall with the red, black, and gold. Dunning got into the winner’s circle again early on, firing a 73 at the Brock Invitational in September to top the field. She did it with masterful precision by carding a birdie on three of the final four holes. Dunning was sharp again when the OUA Championship came around at heron Point Golf Links in Ancaster, ON. In tough conditions, she posted an 82 on the second day of competition to finish second overall just one stroke from first with a score of 161, earning an OUA silver medal.
“We are so fortunate to have Sarah join the Gryphons golf team this year,” said Gryphon golf coach Tim O'Connor. “She is one of the top women amateurs in Canada. With her record, skill and poise, she is an inspiration to the women and men alike on our team, whether she's swinging a club or contributing to a team meeting. With Sarah on board, the team is excited about the possibilities for this year and the next few seasons.”
