"After I learned a bit more about myself, I was able to share those parts with others, and I leaned on my support net for love and acceptance that I couldn’t always find in myself. So, my advice is to have a conversation with yourself, learn about yourself, stop hiding you from you."
Second year goalie Santana Ferreira was recently featured in a Woman of Influence series on a blog called Fit in the Now. At only 19 years old, Santana is a successful student-athlete and is openly gay. The blog post discusses Santana's love of soccer, pursuit of the sport and her story and message to any young woman who is struggling to come out, embrace their sexuality and deal with the fear of acceptance.
